A New Year and New Challenges for schools and Rainbows GB Registered Directors Sharon Melia Craven (National Director North)
Happy New year
A new year
and new challenges for schools and our Registered Directors.
A previous
Blog,
‘What drew me to Rainbows by
Registered Director, Derek Kelly’ (Interview by Miles Costello)
tells the
story of how Derek became a Registered Director for Rainbows and describes some
of the great work he does for Rainbows in North East London and Essex.
Derek is an
experienced member of a team of Registered Directors (RDs) spread across the
country, who, like Derek, are responsible for the implementation and
development of Rainbows in regional areas.
Our RDs
play a crucial role Supporting the National Co-Directors (Sharon in the North
and Eleanor in the South) in promoting the work of Rainbows to ensure that as
many children and young people as possible can benefit from the ‘emotional healing’
Rainbows offers.
All RDs can
benefit from attending annual Continual Professional Development (CPD) which
offers them the opportunity to meet RDs from other regions, share good
practice, receive updates and the latest news from the Charity and interact
with invited experts. This CPD certifies that RDs keep their knowledge and
understanding in line with current research and developments so that they can
provide well informed training to prospective Facilitators in schools, and for
them to confidently support their pupils and students who are suffering
significant loss.
Despite the
very trying times we have all had since March 2020, with various lockdowns and
restrictions, our RDs opened a magnificent 144 sites in the academic year of
2020/21. A great achievement, well done to all our committed Registered
Directors who continue to give their time voluntarily in the aim of supporting
children and young people through their grief caused by some significant loss, to
see the rainbow after the storm.
