A Year in Life of @Rainbowsgb Resource Centre during the #Pandemic 2021 Kolla and Caroline
Rainbows Bereavement Support GB is a national charity that offers training through locally based Registered Directors in the use of resources such as age appropriate journals, games, toys and other materials to foster emotional healing.
We are open Monday to Thursday 9.30 to 14.30, 48 weeks of the year. Kolla our Centre Manager
joined Rainbows GB in 2018 when the Resource Centre moved to Liverpool,
Caroline joined in 2019 just before the turbulent first wave of lockdown in
March 2020.
In January 2021 we started the year with another school lockdown, despite
the uncertainty around school closures and home learning the resource centre
remained open and very busy. It soon became clear that schools were looking for
support for teaching and support staff who were having to adapt to unexpected
conditions.
Our work is about making sure schools get the resources they need in a
timely manner, for those of you that have ordered in the last 12 months you may
have noticed your orders often come in reused boxes, this may tell you more
about Kolla and Caroline’s on line shopping than necessary, but it is our aim
to reduce costs and waste.
#Reduce, #Reuse, #Recycle
It’s not all about packing in the Resource Centre we were
thrilled to be part of a rescue mission for a mother duck and her babies who
had got themselves stuck in a courtyard at the Convent of Mercy where we are
based and saw them safely on their way to the canal.
Today, there are about half a
billion people (+1, us) around the world have Facebook accounts and nearly 200
million (+1, us) have Twitter accounts. Kolla and Caroline are tweeting
and posting between packing and sending through the day, find us https://twitter.com/RainbowsGb and https://www.facebook.com/RainbowsGB1
As we approach the end of 2021 we
look back on the year where we saw 157 new schools signed up to deliver the
programme and sent out more than 250 orders and look forward to 2022 being a
better year and with the success of the Aviva Crowdfunding signing up many more
schools and supporting more children.
2022 we are ready for you, have a peaceful and safe Christmas and New Year from Kolla and Caroline
